2023 Travel Teams Tryouts

The HHMBA is pleased to announce that we have opened the registration page for our 2023 travel teams tryouts. As we did last year we need all families to pre-register for the tryouts to ensure that all necessary waivers are completed prior to coming the diamond. Please complete the tryout pre-registration form at - https://hhmba.sportngin.com/register/form/021776819.  There is a $20 fee for this year.

We are opening up tryout registration earlier than we did last year so that we can ensure we have the right number and right level of teams selected. If you are planning to attend please register as soon as possible as this will  impact our coaching decisions for 2023.

Players should ensure that they bring their own equipment, including their own helmet, glove and water bottle. Tryout shirts will be distributed again this year and your athlete should ensure they bring this shirt with them to every tryout.

Attached to this post is our full tryout guideline. We strongly suggest that anyone new to Halton Hills or new to travel baseball read it thoroughly. Many questions are answered within this guide however if anything is unclear please contact us and we can help guide you.

Questions related to import (non Halton Hills residents) can be found in this document as well as our release process.

For the 2023 season we have made one significant change to our tryout guidelines.

  • NEW in 2023 - Any player who played the prior season in COBA select or House League may choose to start their tryout experience at the second round of tryouts if they wish. This is not required but is an option available to the player. We would ask you to inform the Tier 1 coach of this decision in writing prior to the start of the first tryout so that they can plan their practice accordingly. Any player indicating this choice would be marked as “released to next tryout” by the Tier 1 coach.

Tryouts will start on Sept 7th and will be completed by the end of September. We are not planning to conduct tryouts on Saturday, September 17th to avoid conflict with the amazing work our local service clubs do with the Head for the Hills fundraising event.

F.A.Q.

Question - Can you clarify the guideline regarding attending Tier 1 tryouts if my player was on a COBA Select or house league team last year? Am I opting out of the entire Tier 1 tryout or just the "first one"?

Answer -  Yes, if you decide to opt you are opting out of being considered for the Tier 1 team entirely, not just the first of three tryouts.

Question - My child is born in the year 2011 which team/age/level are they trying out for?

Answer - Your player as a 2011 born player would be trying out at the 12U age group (for players born in 2009). If they were to be unsuccessful at the Tier 1 team they would move to the Tier 2 and if unsuccessful there he would go to the combined 12U/13U COBA select team tryouts which would also include players born in 2010. COBA select is the only level where we combine two ages together.

If for some reason we did not have a 2nd tier team at the 2011 year then the path would be 12U Tier 1 -> 12U/13U COBA Select -> House League.
