Elite Program Information

In June of 2014, Baseball Ontario announced that four of its affiliated associations had signed an agreement to form a new 18u Midget Elite League (MEL) commencing with the 2015 season. With the success of the league, the  “Elite Baseball League of Ontario” has grown to 13 regions, 3 age groups (15u, 16u, 18u) and over 50 teams. In that time the “EBLO” has had over 100 athletes pursue their dreams of playing University and College baseball.

Athletes are given the opportunity to compete at college showcases such as: Perfect Game, Prep Baseball Report, New Era and Ohio Elite Camps. Also, EBLO athletes have the opportunity to play for high profile teams, such as the Ontario Youth Team, Ontario Summer Games and International tournaments.

The HHMBA Executive has taken the position that Elite Baseball is an important part of enhancing baseball opportunities in our community.  With the EBLO well established, HHMBA will take a leading role in delivering Elite programs in Halton Hills.  As part of HHMBA's commitment to EBLO, an Elite committee has been formed to handle all aspects of Elite baseball. The Elite committee is committed to making Elite baseball in Halton Hills an example of excellence for many years to come.

In the fall of 2020, HHMBA fielded a 15U Elite Team with 4 time OBA Champion Wayne Peddie as the head coach.  Elite tryouts began in mid-August, with team selection early September.  That 15U Elite team participated in the 2021 Baseball Ontario season and competed in the 2021 August Madness Tournament.

In August, 2021 we announced that we will be fielding both a 15U and 16U Elite team for the 2022 baseball season.

Tryouts for 2022 are now complete.

2022 EBLO 16U Head Coach - Wayne Peddie

Our 2022 16U Elite head coach is Wayne Peddie. Coach Peddie brings with him 15 years of coaching experience in various levels of players and has been on the coaching staff for 4 OBA Championship teams.

Coach Peddie’s coaching philosophy stresses the importance of accountability, responsibility, team unity, discipline, mental toughness, self-confidence, sportsmanship, and a desire to compete. Fitting with the Eagles’ philosophy,  Coach Peddie demands that the players on his teams be sportsmanlike, disciplined and highly motivated. He expects players to put in an intense effort on the field every practice and game.

According to Peddie, “Players on the Eagles’ 16U Elite squad will need to have a work ethic unequalled and unmatched by any other team.”

EBLO - Trafalgar Sports Park - Field of Dreams

July 2020 saw the fruition of a dream of many players, coaches and Executive members with the completion of the Field of Dreams project at Trafalgar Sports Park.  The newly completed sports complex houses 3 multipurpose diamonds and our beautiful Field of Dreams.  This mounded, grass infield diamond will be the home for our Elite Program, as well as our Senior Travel teams.

This project is a true demonstration of a community coming together to make a difference in the Halton Hills Community.  A special thank you to the Ontario Trillium Foundation, the Town of Halton Hills, Georgetown SloPitch, the HHMBA and the Diamond User Ball Groups all had a part in the completion of this project.

The photo gallery below depicts the project at different stages.  A celebration of the opening of the collaborative project will take place at a later date.
